How escrow works
On mistdeal, money never changes hands directly between buyer and seller. Payment goes into the vault first, and both sides know the rules from the start.
Order and payment
The buyer pays with crypto. Once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain, the order becomes “paid” and the amount is locked in the seller's pending balance.
Delivery
For automatic listings the details are delivered instantly; for others, within the time the seller committed to. If that time is exceeded, the buyer can cancel and get a full refund.
Check and confirm
The buyer has a protection period that varies by category (default 1 day). During this period the buyer confirms or opens a dispute. If no action is taken, the order is confirmed automatically.
Payment to the seller
After confirmation, once the 1 day security hold and any listing warranty period are over, the amount moves to the seller's withdrawable balance.
What happens in a dispute?
The moment a dispute is opened, the amount in the vault is frozen; it is neither released to the seller nor auto-confirmed. Both sides share evidence in the order chat, and the mistdeal team reviews it and makes one of three decisions: full refund, payment to the seller or partial refund. All messages in the order chat and the delivery records are kept as evidence for the decision.
Listings with warranty
If the seller states a warranty period in the listing (e.g. “72-hour ban warranty”), the seller's earnings stay in the vault until that period ends, even if the order is confirmed, and the buyer can open a dispute under the warranty.
