How to Sell Digital Products Safely: A Step-by-Step Guide
Selling accounts, channels, licenses or files? The hard part is getting paid safely. Here is the full path from seller application to your first withdrawal.

How do you sell digital products safely? Start with something you legally own and are allowed to sell. Then become a seller on a marketplace that offers payment protection, write a clear listing, choose instant or manual delivery, and deliver on time. On an escrow marketplace, an order only reaches you once the buyer's money is already locked in.
There's no shipping with digital goods, but there are risks of their own: a buyer can see the data and claim it "didn't work", you may feel pressured to deliver before being paid, or you may have no evidence when a dispute comes up. This guide walks through how to close those gaps before you make your first sale.
1. Decide what to sell
"Digital products" usually brings e-books and templates to mind, but the goods that change hands most on marketplaces are different. On mistDEAL the main categories are ad accounts, social media accounts, Telegram and YouTube channels, AI service accounts and software licenses. An "Other" category also accepts things like e-books, design files and subscriptions; listings there are reviewed by the team before they go live.
Whatever you choose, the ground rule is the same: you must be the lawful owner or have the right to sell it. Stolen or compromised accounts, accounts opened with someone else's or fake identity documents, cracked or leaked licenses and breached data lists are strictly banned. Read the full prohibited items policy; it protects you as much as your buyers.
2. Choose where to sell
You have three basic options: your own website, social media and forums, or an established marketplace. Each has trade-offs:
| Channel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Your own website | Full control, your own brand | Traffic, payments and trust all built from zero |
| Social media / forums | Quick to start, free | No payment protection, high scam and impersonation risk |
| Escrow marketplace | Existing buyers, payment protection, logged delivery | Commission per sale, platform rules to follow |
For a new seller the biggest obstacle is trust. Nobody wants to pay a stranger first, and you don't want to deliver to a stranger first. An escrow marketplace breaks that deadlock: the order doesn't reach you until the buyer's money is in the vault, and the buyer knows it won't reach you until they've checked the goods.
3. Apply to become a seller
On mistDEAL you sign up, then fill in the seller application. It asks for:
- Store name: what buyers will see. It can't contain brand names such as Google or Meta.
- The categories you'll sell in and your experience in them.
- How you source your products: this matters, so answer it plainly.
- Your Telegram username (in case more information is needed), your estimated monthly sales and optional references.
You accept the Seller Agreement and declare that you lawfully own what you'll sell. Applications are usually decided within 24 hours and you'll get a notification. If you're turned down, you can update your details and reapply.
4. Write a listing that sells
A good listing sells more and creates fewer disputes, because most disputes come from a gap between what the buyer expected and what arrived. When you write one:
- Be specific in the title: platform, type, key feature. "YouTube channel, created 2019, 12k subscribers" beats "amazing channel".
- Put measurable facts in the description: followers or subscribers, account age, spend limit, monetization status, exactly what's included in delivery. Misstating them is grounds for a refund and account closure.
- Use simple formatting: the description supports
**bold**and lines starting with "- " as bullet points. - Leave out contact details: no Telegram handles or phone numbers in the listing. All communication happens in the order chat.
- Add screenshots: up to 6 images (JPG, PNG, WEBP). Black out personal details other than the account name; hidden EXIF data is stripped automatically.
Prices are set in USD, and you can add an "old price" to show a discount.
5. Pick a delivery method and a warranty
There are two delivery options, and the right one depends on the product. Our instant vs manual delivery comparison goes deeper; in short:
- Instant (automatic) delivery: records you add to stock (license keys, ready account details, cookies or files) are delivered the moment payment confirms. You can add text stock line by line or upload up to 5,000 records at once from a .txt file. Every record is encrypted on the server and shown only to the buyer.
- Manual delivery: you deliver when the order arrives, within a delivery time (in hours) you set. Miss it and the listing is hidden automatically and the buyer can get a refund.
A warranty is optional but persuasive. If you offer, say, "72-hour no-ban warranty", your earnings stay in escrow until it ends, even after the buyer confirms, and the buyer can open a warranty dispute in that window. Spell out what's covered and what isn't; clear terms mean fewer arguments.
6. Deliver and keep everything on the record
When an order comes in, payment is already in escrow, so the buyer's money is guaranteed to be there. For manual listings you can deliver as text or cookies, as a file (up to 20 MB), or by flagging a "manual delivery" and coordinating in the order chat. Delivery details are stored encrypted and only the buyer can see them.
- For accounts, hand over everything needed for a full transfer: login, access to the linked email, backup codes and ownership transfer where relevant.
- Never suggest off-platform contact, payment or delivery. It's unprotected and breaks the seller agreement.
- If you realise you can't deliver, use "I can't deliver" to cancel and refund. That's always better than a missed deadline or a dispute.
If a buyer does open a dispute, our guide to how the dispute process works explains your options.
7. Withdraw your earnings
Sale proceeds are recorded as "in escrow" the moment the buyer pays. After the buyer confirms, or the protection window lapses and the order auto-confirms, a short security hold and any warranty period pass; then the amount, minus commission, moves to your withdrawable balance.
- Open Earnings & withdrawals — you'll see withdrawable and in-escrow amounts separately.
- Enter amount, network and wallet address — make sure the network matches the address; funds sent on the wrong network can't be recovered.
- Confirm with password and 2FA — a fixed crypto withdrawal fee applies and the net amount is shown up front. Requests are usually paid within 24 hours.
Commission is only taken when a sale completes, and listing is free. The rate depends on the category and is locked in at the moment of sale.
5 mistakes new sellers make
- Keeping the description short and explaining key details only in chat. The evidence belongs in the listing.
- Promising an unrealistically short manual delivery time.
- Offering a warranty without writing down its terms.
- Inviting buyers to Telegram "because it's faster".
- Withdrawing without double-checking that network and address match.
After your first few sales, ratings and completed-sales counts start to build on your store page, and buyers increasingly pick sellers with a visible track record. Combine that with fast, well-documented deliveries and the store compounds over time.
